Franklin D. Roosevelt   

Frankiln D. Roosevelt was born January 30th, 1882 at Hyde Park, New York.  

He was elected to 4 terms in office, he was the president from 1933 to 1945.  No other president has served more than 2 terms as president.


Assuming the Presidency at the depth of the Great Depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt helped the American people regain faith in themselves. He brought hope as he promised prompt, vigorous action, and asserted in his Inaugural Address, "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

Roosevelt created the New Deal durring the Great Depression to provide relief for the unemployed, recovery of the economy, and reform of the economic and banking systems.  

At the time of FDR's presidency, the dust bowl was in full swing.  In April of 1935, president Roosevelt approved the Emergency Relief Appropriation Act, which provided $525 million for drought relief, and authorizes creation of the Works Progress Administration, which would employ 8.5 million people.

In march of 1937, FDR began his Shelterbelt Project.  The project called for large-scale planting of trees across the Great Plains, stretching in a 100-mile wide zone from Canada to northern Texas, to protect the land from erosion.

In 1940 he was re-elected for his third term in office.  By 1941, FDR enters the United States in WWII, which ends the great depression. 

He died on April 12th 1945.
